Tracking our progress

The ultimate aim of the new kerbside waste service is to reduce waste to landfill. Our target is to compost 10,000 tonnes of food organic and garden organic waste by April 2019. See how we are tracking towards this below:

It is also important to correctly separate our waste across the three bin service. To ensure this, we can track the contamination rate. Essentially this rate means what percentage of waste has been placed in to the wrong bin. We want the number to be as low as possible. By April 2019 we would like to achieve (or do better than!) the contamination rates below:

  • 5% contamination rate in the food organics and garden organics bin
  • 10% contamination rate in the recycling bin
